Fees for private sellers

It's easy, safe, and free to list on eBay. You get a monthly allowance of free listings, and you only pay transaction fees when your item sells (final value fees, regulatory operating fee and international fee, if applicable) and for any optional upgrades you choose to add.

Fees at a glance

Here's a snapshot of the fees that will apply for most private sellers listing on ebay.ie:

Fees when you create your listing

Listing fee

Free for up to 150 listings each month

Listing upgrade fees

Only charged if you select an upgrade. See table below.

Fees when your item sells (transaction fees)

Final value fee

11% of the total amount of the sale + €0.35 per order

Regulatory operating fee

0.43% of the total amount of the sale

Other fees may apply depending on what you're selling, selling price and the options you choose when you create your listing. See full details of all our fees below.

Final value fees

We charge one final value fee when your item sells, and you don't have to worry about third-party payment processing fees. This fee is calculated as a percentage of the total amount of the sale, plus a fixed fee per order. The variable final value fee is 11% for the portion of the total amount of the sale up to €1,990 and 2% for the portion of the total amount of the sale above €1,990. The fixed fee per order is €0.05 if the total amount of the order is below €10.00, otherwise €0.35.

The total amount of the sale includes the item price, any handling charges, the shipping service the buyer selects, VAT, and any other applicable taxes.

An order is defined as any number of items purchased by the same buyer at checkout with the same shipment method.

If your item doesn't sell, you usually don't pay a final value fee. However, if you offer or reference your contact information to another user or ask a buyer for their contact information in the context of buying or selling outside of eBay, we charge a final value fee for introducing you to the buyer. In this case, the final value fee is based on the higher of the fixed price, auction start price, Buy it now price, reserve price or the price identified between the buyer and seller.

Regulatory operating fee

When your item sells, we charge a regulatory operating fee of 0.43%, calculated on the total amount of the sale. The total amount of the sale includes the item price, any handling charges, the shipping service the buyer selects, and any applicable taxes.

International fee

If your registered address is in Ireland, we charge an international fee when the delivery address for the item (entered by the buyer during checkout) is outside the Eurozone and Sweden, as shown in the table below.

This fee is calculated on the total amount of the sale and is automatically deducted from your sales proceeds.

Listing fees

Each month you can create up to 150 listings for free, or more if you have an eBay Shop. You'll only pay listing fees if you've reached your monthly allowance and want to list more. Every listing created after your free monthly allocation has been used up costs €0.35. Different fees apply to listings created in the Cars, Motorcycles & Vehicles category. See the Fees for Basic eBay Shops section below for information on free listing allocations and listing fees when you subscribe to a Basic eBay Shop.

Listing fees are only charged once when the listing is originally created, unless you choose to manually relist your item. Auction listings that are automatically relisted using the auto-relist feature, and monthly renewals of Good 'Til Cancelled listings are not charged additional listing fees, and do not count towards your monthly allocation of free listings.

Selling limits apply and may prevent you from being able to use your entire allocation of free listings each month.

Fees for optional listing upgrades

Adding optional listing upgrades is a great way to help your listings stand out and attract more buyers. Certain features are free, like adding up to 24 photos for example, while others, like adding a subtitle, do require an additional fee.

We charge optional listing upgrade fees per listing regardless of whether your item sells, and only once when the listing is originally created, or if you choose to manually relist your item.

Your eBay selling fees and expenses are automatically deducted from your sales proceeds, and the remainder is paid out to your bank account.

Seller currency conversion charge

This charge is levied by eBay S.à r.l. in connection with your use of managed payments.

When you create listings or sell items on an international eBay site, eBay may convert your funds to a different currency in order to collect amounts owed by you to eBay, or to payout funds due to you.

For example, if your registered address is in Ireland and you create a listing on eBay.com for which fees are due (such as listing and/or optional listing upgrade fees), eBay will convert your funds from EUR to USD using the transaction exchange rate applicable at the time of listing, in order to collect these fees. When the item sells on eBay.com, eBay will calculate your payout amount by converting the sales proceeds from USD to EUR using the transaction exchange rate applicable at the time of the sale.

If eBay converts your funds, the conversion will be completed at the transaction exchange rate we set for the relevant currency exchange. eBay's transaction exchange rate is composed of a base exchange rate plus a conversion charge. The conversion charge is a fixed percentage applied to the base exchange rate and retained by eBay. The base exchange rate reflects rates within the wholesale currency markets applicable to the currency pairing on the day of the conversion, or the prior business day. If exchange rates are set by law or regulation, the base exchange rate reflects the government reference rates.

If your registered address is in Ireland, the seller currency conversion charge applied and retained by eBay is 3%. If your registered address is not in Ireland, please refer to the fee page for your country or region of residence for your seller currency conversion charge information.

  • Fees may apply if you end an auction listing early
  • Listing fees and optional listing upgrade fees apply to each listing you create, are charged at the time of listing or manual relisting, as applicable, and are non-refundable. Fee amounts are based on the terms in effect when the listing goes live and when it renews.
