Setting up automatic payments
When you start selling on eBay, we ask you to set up an automatic payment method in order to continue listing on the site and also for your seller fees. You can set up automatic payments via PayPal or credit card.
To set up an automatic payment method, follow the same steps as updating your automatic payment method. The payment method you set up with us is noted on your Seller account page. You can change your payment method at any time.
Each month we'll send you an invoice to notify you of the amount we intend to deduct from your PayPal account. You'll receive your invoice on the first of the month or the 15th of the month (see Your payment due date). You don't need to take any action when we send you this invoice. For information on payment requirements, late fees and payment schedules, see your payment due date.
For a breakdown of your recent fees, see your account status and the seller fees page.
Alternatively, learn about making a one-time payment.
Paying by PayPal
PayPal is a safe, convenient way to pay your eBay selling fees automatically. When you set up automatic PayPal payments, your seller fees are automatically deducted from your PayPal account no sooner than 10 days after you receive your invoice.
How automatic PayPal payments work
PayPal withdraws funds from your PayPal account balance.
If there are insufficient funds in the PayPal account, PayPal uses the funding source you selected when you signed up for automatic PayPal payments.
If you didn’t select a preferred funding source during that process, PayPal uses whatever PayPal funding source you've provided.
To change your PayPal funding source for eBay seller feesIn the Financial Information column, click the My pre-approved payments link.
Click the Set available funding sources link to change your funding sources.
If a payment from this preferred funding source fails (for example, the credit card expires), the eBay invoice amount can be paid from other available funding sources.
Note: You can also specify funding sources that you don't want used for automatic payments from the My pre-approved payments page in your PayPal profile. You can update the PayPal account on file for automatic payments at any time.
Paying by credit card
You can have eBay automatically charge your selling fees to a credit card. eBay accepts the following cards:
Your credit card will normally be charged 5-7 days after you receive your invoice. Learn more about eBay account invoices and payment schedules.
You can add or update a credit card for automatic payments at any time. To ensure that the new information is used for an invoice payment, please update the credit card before the end of your billing cycle (either the end of the month or the 15th of the month).
To remove a credit card from your account, see removing a payment method from your account below.
