How do I change the name of my eBay Shop?

Change the name of an existing eBay Shop

You can change the name of your shop at any time, and as often as you like:

  1. Go to My eBay > Account > Subscriptions

  2. On the Manage My Shop: Summary page, scroll to the Set up, Sell and Track section and click the Design your shop link

  3. In the Display Settings section, click the Change link and make your edits

Note: The name you choose determines your Shop's website address (or 'URL'). For example, if your Shop's name is 'Fine Jewellery', your Shop's URL is: http://stores.ebay.com/fine-jewellery. eBay will take out special characters (apostrophes, spaces, &, $, etc.), add hyphens between words, and make all letters lowercase.

Tips to selecting a name for your eBay Shop

Choose a name that immediately lets buyers know what you're selling. For example, a straightforward name such as 'Ben's Computers' will be more helpful to buyers than a less descriptive name such as 'Zebra Park.' A straightforward Shop name can also help web search engines find your Shop when buyers are looking for your items.

Your Shop name:

  • Must start and end with a letter or number

  • Can't start with four or more consecutive letter A's

  • Can't start with an 'e' or 'E' followed by more than a single number

  • Can't contain the following characters: <, >, or @

  • Can't be the user ID of another user member on eBay, or be misleadingly similar to the user ID of another eBay member

  • Can't contain 'www' anywhere in the name

  • Can't contain two or more consecutive spaces or non-alphanumeric characters

  • Can't end with a top-level domain abbreviation used on the web such as .com, .net, etc.

  • Can't be a name that is identical or misleadingly similar to another company's name protected by trademark law. Also, you may not use a name that contains the word eBay, Half.com or PayPal, or any word which is similar to those names. See the Trademarked items and domain name policy

We recommend that you change your name only rarely, if at all, because any bookmarks your buyers have set up or marketing links you have created will no longer work. For normal web search engine rankings, your eBay Shop will be ranked as a new site.
