About product listings and templates
Selling Manager Pro stores information about products and associated listing templates. Think of a product as a folder that helps you track inventory and cost, and which contains all the different ways you can list your product. You can create a product without a listing template. However, all listing templates must be associated with a product.
A product can have several different listing templates so you can sell the product in different ways. The only required product information is the product name, which doesn't have to be unique. Optional product information can be added at any time and includes:
Custom Label: Any alphanumeric number you assign to the product
Average Unit Cost: The cost per item
Restock Alert & Notes: You can set an alert if the quantity falls below the level you specify, and include vendor information
Creating a product and listing template from the inventory view
You can get started creating a product using only the product name. We recommend adding the optional information also so that Selling Manager Pro can provide you with valuable sales statistics, including average selling price and success ratio. However, you can specify optional product details at any time.
To create a product and the associated listing template:
From the inventory view in My eBay, click the Create Product button.
On the Create New Product page, specify whether you are selling a single product or a product with variations. For example: If you are selling a handbag, select Single product. If you are selling a T-shirt in various colours and sizes, select Product with variations. The option to create a product with variations is available in most Clothing, Shoes & Accessories.
Enter the product nameand any optional information.
Select the folder option.
To save the product in an existing folder, select the folder from the drop-down menu.
To save your product in a new folder, enter a name for the folder. You can have up to 1000 folders at a time. Learn about Managing product folders.
If you entered the quantity available to list, and want to set a restock alert, select the check box and enter the quantity that will generate the alert in the Restock Alerts and Notes section. You can also enter vendor contact information.
Click the Create Listing button to open the Sell Your Item form.
To create a listing template associated with this product, complete the Sell Your Item form. If you exit the form before the listing template is created, your product will be saved, but it won't have an associated listing template.
Duplicating a product from the inventory view
When you create a copy of a product, the listing template associated with it is also duplicated and associated with the new product.
To duplicate a product:
From the Inventory view in My eBay, select the product you want to duplicate.
Select Duplicate from the Select Action menu. The new product and any associated templates are displayed in the Inventory view. The value for the quantity available to list is not duplicated. To update quantity go to the Product page and update product detail information.
Creating a product and listing template from the Sell Your Item form
The listing templates you save will be associated with a new product.
From the Sell Your Item form, use the Save to Inventory section to add your product. Click the "Add inventory details" link.
In the pop-up window, enter a product name or select a folder and product from the drop-down menus.
Complete the optional fields.
Creating a product that has variations in the Sell Your Item form
If you choose to list your product in most Clothing, Shoes & Accessories or Home & Garden categories, you’ll see a pop-up window that gives you the option to list your product with multiple variations in a single fixed price listing. For example, you might sell a T-shirt that is available in various colours or sizes. Instead of listing each variation of the item separately, you can list them together in one listing, and buyers can choose the variations they want.
Inventory is automatically tracked, and when the quantity of any variation reaches zero, it is shown in your listing as “out of stock”. If all variations of your item are out of stock, your listing will end and you’ll need to relist if you want to continue selling those variations.
Saving scheduled and active listings as listing templates
You can save scheduled and active listings as listing templates. The listing templates you save are then associated with the new product.
To save active or pending listings and create a product and listing templates:
From the Scheduled or Active view, select the listings to save as templates. You can save a maximum of 20 listing templates at one time.
Click the Save to Inventory button. Saving the listings to inventory results in a new product.
Enter a product name and template name.
Select a Product Folder option.
If you want to save the product in an existing folder, select the folder from the drop-down menu.
If you want to save your product in a new folder, select Create a new folder and enter a name for the new folder.
To save the template(s) and create a product, click the Save to Inventory button. The new product and template are displayed in the Inventory view. From the Product page, you can update product details.
From the Product page you can make a copy by selecting the listing template and clicking the Duplicate button (see Updating product details).
You can create a new template for an existing product by editing a template, and selecting the Save as a new Selling Manager Pro template button.
