eBay for Charity fee credits

eBay for Charity fee credits

If your eBay for Charity item sells, you're eligible for an eBay fee credit. We'll credit a portion of your basic selling fees (insertion and final value fees) back to you according to the level of your donation.

For example, if you donate 50% of your item's sale price to charity, you'll receive a 50% credit on your basic selling fees. For charities selling items, we'll credit back 100% of your basic selling fees.

The fee credit will appear automatically on your first eBay invoice after the item sells.

Please note:
  • This credit doesn't apply to fees for any optional features, such as listing upgrades or setting a reserve price.

  • If your item doesn't sell, you won't get a fee credit on the insertion fee. However, you may be able to relist the item for free.

  • The item must be listed using the eBay for Charity option on the listing (Sell Your Item) form.

  • Fee credits must be at least £0.01 to be processed.

  • eBay for Charity listings are only available on eBay.co.uk (not eBay.ie).

  • Listings must comply with our policy on charity listings.

After your item has sold

Once the buyer pays, your donations will be collected by MissionFish UK, a registered charity (No. 1110538). MissionFish UK will also collect Gift Aid and pass it on to your chosen charity if you’ve made a Gift Aid declaration. MissionFish UK takes a small administrative fee from sellers' donations to help cover its operating costs.

Some examples

These examples show how the totals work out for sellers and charities when sellers' donations, fee credits, Gift Aid and MissionFish deductions are taken into account. Please note that the fees given are for illustration purposes only. See full details of eBay's fee structure

Example 1: Seller donates part of sale price

In this example, a seller's donation of £2 means £2.23 for the charity. The seller has:

  • Agreed to donate 20% of the sale price

  • Sold an item for £10.00

  • Completed a Gift Aid declaration

eBay credits 20% of basic selling fees back to the seller.

Charity donation

Seller's donation: £2.00
(20% of £10 sale price)

+ Gift Aid: £0.50

Total donation: £2.50

- MissionFish deduction: £0.27

Charity receives £2.23

Seller

Seller receives £8.00
(80% of £10 sale price)

Basic selling fees: £1.00
(insertion + final value fees)

eBay fee credit: £0.20
(on next invoice)

Example 2: Seller donates full sale price

In this example a seller's donation of £5.00 means £5.69 for the charity. The seller has:

  • Agreed to donate 100% of the sale price

  • Sold an item for £5.00

  • Completed a Gift Aid declaration

eBay credits 100% of basic selling fees back to the seller.

Charity donation

Seller's donation: £5.00

Example 3: Charity selling an item

In this example the charity selling an item earns £20.00 on the sale of a £20 item*. The charity:

  • Is selling on their own behalf

  • Sold an item for £20.00

Since the charity is selling directly for themselves, there's no MissionFish deduction, and no Gift Aid. eBay credits 100% of basic selling fees back to the charity's account.

*The charity may need to pay additional fees not calculated in this example such as PayPal, credit card fees, third-party auction houses, etc.

Charity donation

Charity receives £20.00
(100% of £20 sale price)

Seller account

Basic selling fees: £2.40
(insertion + final value fees)
