Catalogue adoption tool

List your items with the eBay catalogue

In many Electronics categories eBay introduced or is about to introduce a new buyer experience that displays listings grouped by their model – or catalogue product. This requires that you select a matching product from the catalogue whenever there is one available, both for new and Good ‘Til Cancelled listings.

If you list in any of these categories, please download and read 'Electronics 2012 - the buyer experience and mandatory use of catalogue products', where you will find many helpful tips on how to list with the eBay catalogue.

To revise your existing listings and match them to the correct catalogue product, you can use the new catalogue adoption tool.

What is the catalogue adoption tool?

The catalogue adoption tool shows a list of all the items you are currently selling in catalogue-mandated Electronics categories that aren't already matched to a product in the eBay catalogue.

How does it work?

Catalogue adoption tool will display a list of all your items currently live in catalogue-mandated Electronics categories without a matching product from the eBay catalogue. Find out more about the current catalogue-mandated Electronics categories.

To use the catalogue adoption tool:

  1. You'll see a list of your unmatched electronics listings. If we can find a likely match to a product from the eBay catalogue, we'll suggest it. If the suggestion is correct, select that item by ticking the box next to it. If there isn't a recommendation or if the recommendation isn’t correct, click Search for more product then select the correct match. Alternatively, search directly for your product in the search box that appears. We recommend searching for brand and model.

  2. If you can’t find a match, it might mean that your product is in the wrong category. If this is the case, use the My item isn't in the right category and I'd like to change it option. If you’re sure your product isn't in the catalogue, use the No products match my item option.

  3. Once you've chosen matches for all the products that have them, click Submit changes.

Note: The catalogue adoption tool doesn't add, remove, or modify any other detail, such as photos, product information, and listing description.

Once submitted, the changes can't be reversed using the catalogue adoption tool.

No product matches your item

If a match isn't found, it may be because your listing doesn't have enough information in the title or item specifics section. You'll need to manually search for a matching product from the eBay catalogue.

Listings that can’t be revised

Any listings with a revision restriction will be visible in the catalogue adoption tool but can’t be matched to a catalogue product. Find out more about restrictions on revising listings.

Listings that have been matched to a product from the eBay catalogue will not show.
