Select, Update or Remove an Automatic Payment Method

When you register as a seller we ask you to set up automatic payments via PayPal or Credit Card.

Each month we'll send you an invoice to notify you of the amount we intend to deduct from your PayPal account. You'll receive your invoice on the first of the month or the 15th of the month (see Your Payment Due Date). You don't need to take any action when we send you this invoice.

Not sure why you've being charged? For a breakdown of your recent fees, see your account status. See also Fees for further help.

For information on payment requirements, late fees and payment schedules, see Your Payment Due Date.

To learn about one-time payments, see Making a One-time Payment.

Automatic PayPal Payments

PayPal is a safe, convenient way to automatically pay your eBay selling fees. When you set up Automatic PayPal Payments, your selling fees are automatically deducted from your PayPal account no sooner than 10 days after you receive your invoice.

How automatic PayPal payments work

  • PayPal first attempts to withdraw funds from your PayPal account balance.

  • If there are insufficient funds in the PayPal account, PayPal uses the funding source you selected when you signed up for automatic PayPal payments.

  • If you didn’t select a preferred funding source during that process, PayPal uses your other PayPal funding sources.

Updating your PayPal funding source:

  1. From the PayPal homepage, log in to your PayPal account.

  2. Click the Profile tab.

  3. In the Financial Information column, click the "Payment Agreements" link.

  4. Click the "Edit Funding Source" link to change your funding sources.

  5. Click the Save button.

If a payment from this preferred funding source fails, (for example, the credit card expires), the eBay invoice amount can be paid from other available funding sources.

Note: You can prevent certain funding sources from being used for Automatic PayPal Payments from the Payment Agreements page in your PayPal Profile.

You can update the PayPal account on file for automatic payments at any time.

Automatic Credit Card Payments

eBay accepts Visa and MasterCard.

Note: Your credit card will normally be charged 5 to 7 days after you receive your invoice. Learn more about eBay account invoices and payment schedules.

To add a credit card for automatic payments, fill in your details on the Place or Update Your Credit Card on File page.

To remove a credit card from your account, see below.

Removing Automatic Payments From Your Account

If you want to remove the automatic payment method from your eBay account, contact Customer Support.

Without a payment method attached to your account, you won't be able to accrue fees any higher than €25.
