False Reporting

eBay does not permit members to abuse the reporting process. Reports of policy breaches to eBay must be truthful and submitted with the intent of addressing a known or suspected breach of eBay policy.

Breaches of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:

  • Listing cancellation

  • Limits on account privileges

  • Account suspension

  • Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings

  • Loss of PowerSeller status

  • Feedback removal

Some Examples

  • A member submits false reports of Feedback extortion for every negative and neutral Feedback rating received.

  • A seller abuses the Final Value Fee credit process by filing a report on a transaction where the buyer paid for the item.

Why does eBay have this policy?

False reports of policy breaches delay the review processes of genuine reports, which is detrimental to the eBay community.
