Resolving Feedback problems

To keep eBay's Feedback system reliable and useful, we won't block comments that buyers and sellers leave for each other. Feedback generally becomes a permanent part of your record. Only buyers can leave negative or neutral Feedback, since this helps to reduce the chances of unfair Feedback for all members.

When you leave Feedback for someone, be honest and fair. Remember that other people rely on your opinions to help them make a buying or selling decision.

How to resolve problems with Feedback you received

There can be times when you're unhappy with the Feedback you received. If you disagree with the other member's opinions, try resolving the situation by:

Replying to the Feedback: Share your side of the story by responding to the other member's comment (your response appears directly below their comment).
To reply to Feedback that you've received:
  1. Go to the Feedback Forum page

  2. Below the Feedback tools heading on the right side of the page, click Reply to Feedback received (You may need to sign in)

  3. Find the comment you want to respond to, and then click Reply

  4. Enter your response in the box, and then click Leave Reply

Leaving a follow-up comment: If you've already left a comment to Feedback you've received, you can add more information to it. The follow-up comment appears below your original comment.
To leave a follow-up comment:
  1. Go to the Feedback Forum page

  2. Below the Feedback tools heading on the right side of the page, click Follow up to Feedback left (You may need to sign in)

  3. Find the comment you want to follow up on, and then click Follow up

  4. Enter your response, and then click Leave Follow-up Comment

Requesting a Feedback revision: In some cases, you can ask buyers to revise the neutral or negative Feedback they've left. You can make this request only after you've resolved a problem that the buyer had with the sale or if you think the buyer accidentally left you incorrect Feedback. There are also other limitations. Can Feedback be removed?

We'll remove Feedback under certain exceptional cases. For example if:

  • It violates our Feedback policies

    • If you think this is the case, you can request that the Feedback be removed by clicking Report at the bottom of Feedback abuse policy page

  • The buyer's communications show that the buyer never had an intention of paying for the item because to reasons that are outside the seller’s control

  • It contains obscene language

  • It contains personal contact information

  • We received a valid court order to remove the Feedback

  • It was left by a buyer who hasn't responded to a seller even after:

    • An unpaid item case was opened by the seller

    • An unpaid item record was placed on the buyer's account
