Contacting eBay members
If you have questions about an item or transaction, here's how to contact eBay members. You'll need to register as a member to contact others.
Ask a question about an item
You can ask questions before, during or after a sale. Here's how:
Read the listing thoroughly. You'll sometimes find FAQs or Questions from other members in the item description or in the section below the item description.
On the listing page, click the Ask a question link.
On the Find Answers page, choose the topic that best fits your question and look for your question in any Q&A that appears.
If you can't find your question, under Did you find your answer? select No, I want to contact the seller and click Continue.
On the Contact Seller page, type your question in the space provided. Depending on the topic you selected in Step 3, you may be asked for additional information related to your question.
Enter the verification code for security purposes and click Send.
Note: Not all sellers accept questions before you buy an item, but all sellers will accept questions after you've bought an item.
Send a message to another member
You can send a message to another member through eBay Messages.
Here's how it works:
Click the user ID of the member you want to email. If you know the member's user ID or email address, you can enter it here.
On the member's My World page, click Contact member.
A dialog box will appear. Under For item, select an item you've bought or are watching from the drop-down menu, or select Enter item number and enter the item number of the listing you're asking about.
On the Find Answers page, choose the topic that best fits your question and look for your question in any Q&A that appears.
If you can't find your question, under Did you find your answer? select No, I want to contact the seller and click Continue.
On the Contact Seller page, type your question in the space provided. Depending on the topic you selected, you might be asked for additional information related to your question.
Enter the verification code for security purposes and click Send.
Note: If your question is not about a specific item the member is selling, tick the box next to It's not about an item in step 6 above. After clicking Continue, you'll be taken to a page where you can type your question and click Send.
We'll keep your email address, and that of the other member, confidential. You can view and respond to your messages by visiting My eBay and clicking the Messages tab. In the Contacts section on the left side of the page, click Find & Contact a Member.
Request a member's contact information
If you're involved in a current or recent transaction, and can't reach the other member through email, you can request the other member's contact information. Here's how:
Click Advanced search at the top of most eBay pages.
In the Members section on the left side of the page, click Find contact information.
Enter their user ID and the item number for your transaction.
We'll send their contact information, including the member's name, city and telephone number, to your registered email address. The other person will also receive your contact information. You'll both need to respect our Privacy Policy when using this information.
Read our contact information policy for more information.
