Reinstating your account

How to reinstate your account

We require payment each month if your account balance is £1.00 or more. If your account is suspended, you can get it reinstated by making a onetime payment.

1. Find out why your account is suspended.
When your account is suspended, we will notify you by email and explain why this action has been taken. The same message will appear in the Messages section of My eBay. If you receive an email indicating that your account is suspended, start by verifying that the email is really from us by going to My eBay and checking your messages.
  • If your account is suspended because your payment is overdue: Your account will be reinstated when you pay the outstanding balance.

  • If your account is suspended for a different reason: Our message tells you why the account is suspended and what you can do. Learn more about suspended accounts.

Tip: If your account is suspended and you don't know why, it's possible that your email software blocked the email notifying you of the suspension. To learn why your account is suspended, go to My eBay and read your messages.
2. Find out how much money you owe on your account.
The easiest way to check the amount you owe and see the last 4 months of activity is to view your account activity. If your account has been suspended for some time and the activity is older than 4 months, you can see fees incurred over the last 18 months by using the Select Invoice menu on the right side of your account page in My eBay.
3. Pay your invoice.
You can pay using PayPal, credit card, cheque, or postal order. You can also use Direct Pay to have the payment deducted from your bank account. Learn more about ways to pay your seller fees.

Follow these instructions to open the payment page.

  1. Go to My eBay.

  2. Click the Account tab.

  3. Click the onetime payment link in the section titled Payment methods for Seller Fees.

If your account is still suspended

Most accounts are automatically reinstated when you make a onetime payment of the amount due. If your account remains suspended after you pay:

  1. Make sure that your account is not suspended for another reason. Go to My eBay and check your messages.

  2. If your account was suspended because we weren't able to receive reimbursement for a refund eBay made to your buyer, you'll need to set up a reimbursement payment method in the Financial Information section on the Personal Information page of your account. You may be asked to sign in.

  3. If there are no remaining issues on your account, contact us to review the suspension.

If your automatic payment method or reimbursement payment method is outdated

Usually when accounts are suspended for non-payment it's because the automatic payment method the seller has on file is outdated or has been recently declined. Once you make a one-time payment on your account, consider updating your automatic payment method

We also recommend you set up a reimbursement payment method so that eBay is able to receive reimbursement if eBay refunds a buyer on your behalf.

The small print

When your account is past due, you may be responsible for collection costs. If this happens, you're billed a monthly finance charge of 1.5% or the highest amount permitted by applicable law, whichever amount is lower. This fee is charged each month on your invoice date.
