EBAY MOTORS UK AND HPI MAKE SELLING CARS FASTER AND EASIER
November 4, 2004
eBay Motors UK has made it easier and faster than ever for dealers and motor traders to sell their used vehicle stock on the UK’s largest online market place. HPI subscribers using HPI Exchange now have the option to load vehicles onto eBaymotors.co.uk at no extra cost.
HPI Exchange has been designed to help dealers publish, manage and locate vehicle stock in real time with minimal effort. It will automatically upload most vehicle descriptions, images and specification data to eBaymotors.co.uk simply as a result of an HPI check. An editor facility gives full control of vehicle descriptions and specifications so that dealers can complete the process, and images can be uploaded at the touch of a button. It makes the listing of vehicles on eBay quick and simple, saving dealers and traders considerable time and effort.
“By using HPI Exchange, dealers will be able to list vehicles and turn them into cash faster than ever,” said head of eBay Motors UK, Clare Gilmartin. “More companies and people turn to HPI when deciding whether a car is safe to buy than any other information source, and HPI was a natural partner to enhance the eBay selling experience for dealers and make this the easiest way to sell vehicles.”
Martin Brassell, director of HPI comments: “The internet has become one of the most popular mediums for car sales and nothing illustrates this better than eBaymotors.co.uk. With eBay as a publishing option for HPI Exchange, dealers now have direct access to a massive audience for their older or part exchange stock, further enhancing their sales potential.”
HPI Exchange is free to HPI subscribers and has been widely adopted by dealers across the country. It harnesses HPI’s unrivalled knowledge of the used car market with one of the most comprehensive information databases.
eBaymotors.co.uk is a sales channel that UK dealers and traders are finding hard to ignore - especially those who need to shift aging stock or unwanted part-exchanges. eBay Motors has over one million visitors a month, with a vehicle now selling through eBay every two minutes, and a car turning to cash every four minutes. In 2003, over 70,000 vehicles were sold, each attracting an average of seven bids.
eBay Motors UK allows dealers to reach millions of buyers for less cost than local advertising, with selling prices typically higher than can be achieved through the trade. Buyers bid up, rather than haggle down.
Founded in the UK in 1999, eBay’s Unique Visitors reached 7.6 million* in August representing over 30 per cent of all active UK internet users. eBaymotors.co.uk has over 1.3 million* Unique Visitors every month and in the past year, well over £500 million of vehicles and parts were bought and sold.
